Description
Tondo is the piece through which many discover the atelier: a round travertine coffee table on a pedestal base, hand-turned from a single block of natural stone. The round top — low and generous — anchors the seating area with no corners in the way; around it everyone sees each other, and everyone touches the stone. The honed, filled surface is practical and warm; the travertine veining, different on every example, gives it that mineral movement no manufactured material achieves. In front of the sofa, between two armchairs or at the centre of the room, it holds books, trays and long conversations. Handmade to order in 60–90 days, it travels in a protective timber crate across Europe. The round table that gathers.
