In an entryway, beneath a mirror, against the wall of a wide hallway: a marble console table turns a place you pass through into a statement of intent. At Pietra by Bianca we carve every natural stone console by hand — from linear, quiet silhouettes to functional sculptures with excavated, hand-worked textures that command a room. We work solid travertine, Calacatta Viola marble with its unmistakable plum veining, and hand-textured stone where you can still read the artisan’s tool. A well-proportioned travertine console table does three things at once: it holds, it orders, it endures. Which is why it is the favourite piece of the interior designers we work with — and the one that receives the most custom requests, with length and depth tailored to each wall. Like everything that leaves the atelier, each console is handmade to order with a 60–90 day lead time, its veining and tone unique to its block. Flagship pieces travel crated in timber, delivered to your home across Europe. The first impression of a home deserves stone.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does a stone console need fixing to the wall?
Usually not: its own weight (85–160 kg) keeps it stable. In homes with small children or on uneven floors we recommend a discreet fixing, which a local fitter can take care of in minutes.
Can you adapt the dimensions to my wall?
Yes. The console is our most requested custom piece: length, depth and height are tailored to your exact alcove. Send measurements and preferred material; we quote within 48 hours, and the lead time remains 60–90 days.
How do I care for Calacatta Viola marble?
Like any marble: neutral soap, a soft cloth, nothing acidic or abrasive. As a vertical piece with little wet use, real-world maintenance is minimal — an annual re-seal and little else.
Do sculpted textures gather dust?
Less than you would think. Excavated textures clean with a duster or the soft brush of a vacuum; being sealed, they do not hold dirt. This is a surface made to be lived with, not kept behind glass.
